An individual who spiked candy with tranquilliser and provided them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two children aged between nine and ten.
The accused was arrested after eight children and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer program which he managed.
Ruben played a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She explained Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The prosecutor added: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC stated items including baby oil, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She said the defendant continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that evening - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the situation.
Mrs Prior said the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the law enforcement a second time.
She stated Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
